JTK Power Group will continue to meet customer needs in the future
In a fast-changing world, different forces and trends affect people and businesses across all industries. Companies are required to adapt to changes and keep the finger on the pulse of development to stay competitive.
JTK Power Group specialises in manufacturing demanding steel solutions and is known worldwide for the best technology know-how in its field. Janne Virtanen, MD of JTK Power Suzhou, says that the company monitors the industry’s changes and directions closely to be prepared for them.
“We all face the same challenges, and competition is hard. We have to keep up so that we can continue to offer customers products and services that are efficient and fit for purpose”.
New forms of energy reshaping technology
The transition from fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy like natural gas and biofuels puts existing manufacturing methods and technology at a risk of becoming useless, if not continuously developed. This is true also in the marine- and mining industries, power plants and logistics, in which the majority of JTK Power’s customers operate.
“Renewable energy is the future. Diesel engines are likely to disappear and be replaced by cleaner sources of energy like natural gas. This means new, tougher regulations for cargo ships for example, and a need for tanks and solutions to store the gas. We have the know-how and experience needed to provide these solutions” Virtanen says.
JTK Power’s products and solutions can be found in a variety of facilities and plants in the renewable energy sector. The silencers developed and manufactured by the company are, among other things, used in natural gas power plants and the pipes of combustion facilities.
Innovations and machinery for the future industry
JTK Power develop and manufacture their own products from start to finish. Each year, 3-5% of the company’s turnover is dedicated to product development. Products are developed in collaboration with, and according to customer requests, Virtanen explains.
“Industry changes affect our operations, and we must develop and manufacture our products accordingly. At the moment we are working on developing new, smaller types of silencers”.
JTK Power has made large investments in automation and will continue to do so in the future. Increasing the level of automation in production boosts efficiency and ensures identical, high-quality products. Welding robots and cobots are incorporated at the machining workshop in Finland, improving manufacturing capacity. In China, the adding of laser cutting at the end of this year will improve the efficiency of the company’s cutting processes.
Machinery and equipment procurements are also made, and more capacity is being planned for all the factories. In Estonia, resources are increased for the manufacturing of welded structures. Measuring services for silencers provided in Finland will soon be offered in China as well.
“The mechanical equipment is wide-ranging and fit for purpose at all sites. Our lifting capacity is 30 000 tonnes, with a lift height of 6 to 8 metres”.
Skilled employees and educated customers
Technology aside, the most valuable asset at JTK Power is its people. Employee training and development go hand in hand with automation, new technology and machinery, and training plans are followed carefully. The same approach applies to customers, Virtanen explains.
“Products and services are developed in cooperation with customers and in the process, we get to share our knowledge with them. JTK Power’s turnkey principle means the customer understands why a certain solution to the problem was chosen but also how it’s works in practice”.
Although the coming times can sometimes seem challenging, Virtanen is confident that JTK Power Group will be able to continue to offer cost-effective solutions in the future.
“We have trained, skilled employees, the machines and equipment necessary and are constantly developing our R&D. Thanks to this, we are able to offer products and services without delay when the industry and customer needs change”.
